of brochure)
At Club Pelican, science and art join up in one great camp! Rich in flora and
fauna, the Batiquitos Lagoon is the “natural” location for this unique camp in
which campers learn
first-hand the wonders of nature from an artist and a naturalist. Young campers
first hike the trails of the Batiquitos Lagoon exploring animal habitats, lagoon
birds, native plants,
insects, and geology, and then create artworks inspired by what they observed in
the Batiquitos wetlands. This fun-filled—and very popular camp is held in
partnership with the
Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation. Club Pelican is held at the Batiquitos Lagoon
Foundation's Nature Center located off of Gabbiano
Lane, Carlsbad.
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 30 students
per session.
Instructors for all sessions: Visual Arts, Mary Shannon Heinzelmann; Naturalist,
Karen Hoyle
Fee: $65 per session (All sessions are full.)
