Using fish sampling techniques at five stations throughout the year, an increase in the number of types of fish was seen in that first year. Batiquitos Lagoon went quickly from a place for a few species of primarily freshwater fish to one containing a much wider diversity of primarily saltwater (that is, related to the ocean) fish.
