The Batiquitos Foundation

Birds at the Lagoon.

The Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation is dedicated to the preservation, enhancement, and protection of Batiquitos Lagoon, one of the few remaining tidal wetlands on the southern California coast.

The BLF is also involved in programs to educate the public in the values of this natural environment (coastal salt marsh with tidal mudflats) and the habitats it provides for birds, insects, plants, fish, mammals, and benthic animals.

We have several docent-led walk programs for children and adults, and our kids summer camp Club Pelican.

We have also included information prepared by our docents to help you find out more about the lagoon environment.

You can view the Foundation’s mission statement and policies.

Monthly meetings of the Board of Directors are open to the public, and minutes of past meetings are available here.

We are involved in ongoing projects to monitor and maintain the lagoon.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization, run entirely by volunteers, there are lots of ways you can support us!
