Kayak at Batiquitos Lagoon
Boats are not normally allowed on the lagoon, in order to protect the environment.
However, in 2006 the Department of Fish and Game opened the lagoon on one day for a limited number of visitors to kayak in the lagoon and help clean out trash that had accumulated in the water over time.
This exciting opportunity was repeated in 2007 and was very popular, with all available places selling out before the event.
The Kayak Cleanup Event will take place again in 2008. It is scheduled for September 20th and 21st. There will also be a raffle for a Hobie Odyssey tandem kayak and day classes from REI Outdoor School. Watch this space for more details as we expect to begin early registration shortly. On-line registration and credit card processing will again be offered.
