Public Walks:
These are easy to moderate walks with many stops along the way to point out
interesting flora, fauna, geology, insects, and the like.
Public walks are
generally scheduled every third Saturday, from 9-11 AM, except in August.
There
is usually another Sunday afternoon public walk during the month.
Dates and
times vary depending upon the tide and other factors.
The starting trailhead
locations and topics vary,
so check the monthly events calendar posted at the
nature center -
or the online calendar at http://www.my.calendars.net/blf.
Some of the recent public walks include:
Feet and Feathers - with a presentation of preserved birds and a bird-watching walk
The Rookery Rocks - looking for nesting birds, with nature photographer Sharon Anthony
Looking for Reptiles - with a presentation by the San Diego Herpetological Association
Walk Like An Indian - focusing on the archaeology and ethnobotany of the lagoon
What’s Bugging You? - a walk with entomologist Dave Dyer
