Maps of Batiquitos Lagoon Vegetation

These aerial maps (including ground survey information, too) were done for the long-term monitoring program and were provided by KTU+A and Merkel and Associates, thanks also to Dr. Ralph Appy at the Port of L.A.

Note the changes over this 3-year period .   Especially noticeable is the increase in eel grass beds (magenta colored: the legend is below) in the central basin.  There were none in 1997 (map not shown).  Also note the buildup of sediment in the central basin.
